Greater Noida: A court in Surajpur on Friday reserved its order on the bail plea of 126 youths who have been lodged in jail for allegedly working in a fake call centre in Sector 63.
While their lawyers claimed that the youths were merely employees of the call centre and many were working only to make some money unaware about the criminality, the court asked the petitioners to produce any proof like appointment letters to establish that the accused were indeed “staffers” of the call centre. It also asked the petitioners to produce salary slips.
“If there is any criminality, it can only be on part of the masterminds like Jimmy Asija, Narendra Pahuja and Sagar Thakkar alias Shaggy, who are roaming freely. They have approached the Allahabad HC, claiming that they do not have any link with the call centre,” said one of the 10 lawyers representing the accused.
The advocates for the accused also produced the identity cards of the accused, stating that those showed them to be employees of the RFS Services group.
At the beginning of the proceedings, additional district and sessions judge III Ashok Kumar Singh asked the investigating officer — SHO of Phase III police station — in the case to appear before the court. However, as the IO did not turn up, the lawyers representing the 126 accused youngsters argued that the court’s time was being wasted.
“The IO has not appeared in the court in any of the four proceedings so far. The court is being made to wait for the IO,” said Veer Singh, one of the advocates for the accused.
After listening to the arguments from different applicant parties, the court reserved its judgment till Saturday.
