‘No truth in the charge that it is against State’s interests’

The recent meeting between Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao in Hyderabad is just the first step towards protecting the interests of Andhra Pradesh, according to YSRCP State general secretary and officials spokesperson Bhumana Karunakar Reddy.

Addressing the media here on Friday, Mr. Karunakar Reddy, objecting to the TDP’s snipe at the party on the issue, advised the ruling party not to draw “wild inferences.”

Mr. Karunakar Reddy wondered how could the TDP make conclusive remarks on the meeting, which, he alleged, were further played up by a section of the media supporting the “yellow party.”

KCR’s emisary

Mr. Rama Rao met Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy as an emissary of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao. The meeting was in the interest of the Telugu States as Mr. Rao had already offered to support A.P.’s demand for Special Category Status (SCS), Mr. Karunakar Reddy said.

“How can Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu blow the meeting out of proportion and project it as against the State’s development?” he asked.

‘Naidu duping people’

“The TDP allied with the TRS in 2009, blamed it for bifurcation in 2014, sought alliance with it again prior to the elections in Telangana, and claimed that it is in the best interest of Andhra Pradesh. But if Mr. Rama Rao and Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy meet, it is a conspiracy against the State. How long can Mr. Naidu dupe the people of the State?” Mr. Karunakar Reddy wondered.

“Did not the TDP ally with the BJP, the Left parties, and even the Congress in Telangana recently to suit its interests and ultimately dumped them?” he asked.
