Earmarks land banks for small, medium and large-scale units

The Telangana government has a three-pronged strategy to help promote plastic and polymer industry by earmarking separate land banks for promoters ranging from small, medium and large-scale units close to the State capital. This is to encourage fresh investments and also enable the existing industries to set up second or third units.

“Investors are welcome to make use of the infrastructural facilities and help create an eco-system taking advantage of the new industrial policy,” said Industries Secretary Jayesh Ranjan on Friday.

Addressing TS and A.P. Plastic Manufacturers’ Association (TAAPMA) at their Polymer Conference-2019 here on Friday, Mr. Ranjan said for SMEs, the government has identified 100 acres of land at Mankhal, and for bigger industries, an industrial zone has been created at Sultanpur outside the Outer Ring Road (ORR). Depending on the demand, large tracts of land would be provided for promoters, he added. Zaheerabad National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) too has space for major players in the field who would want to start mega ventures with their own townships and ancillaries, he said. The secretary urged the industry to make recycling a priority considering the concerns raised with regard to environment sustenance.

In this context, he urged the members to come out with a charter on sustainability. TAAPMA president B.L. Bhandari said the association has completed 50 years and the industry has been providing lakhs of jobs to people. The conference would connect new thinking strategies for plastic and polymer industrial and economical growth in the State, he added.

Chief Operating Officer, Polymer Business of Reliance Industries, Puneet Madan, Managing Partner, Windmoller & Holscher (Germany), and TAAPM chairman of conference Shiv Kumar Gupta also spoke.
