RAJKOT: Piyush Solanki (22) alias Saleem had never dreamed that the Muslim girl, for whom he had embraced Islam to marry her, would become the cause for his suicide.
It was when his wife Salina’s old flame Idris Sipahi (22) showed Solanki the photographs of him and Salina in objectionable positions and asked him to leave Salina that Solanki decided to end his life.
“Solanki hanged himself to death from the ceiling of his residence in Gayatrinagar locality of Dhrol in Jamnagar district on the evening of January 14. Salina lodged a complaint against Sipahi for suicide abetment on Wednesday night,” said K S Dalsania, assistant sub-inspector of Dhrol police station.
Police said that three years ago, when Salina got married to a youth from her community, Sipahi got her divorced in a fortnight after showing their photographs to her husband.
Later, she fell in love with Solanki, who decided to convert to Islam to marry her. They got married in 2017.
Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt for Sipahi.
