Clash broke out among Congress party workers after Kuldeep Rathore assumed office as Himachal Pradesh’s Congress president. The incident left several workers injured. The clash took place between supporters of former chief minister Virbhadra Singh and outgoing state unit president Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. It is being said that Virbhadra Singh had been asking for Sukhu’s replacement ever since his term ended last year. The two had also been involved in throwing dirt at each other’s reputations, often, at meetings and public rallies. This heat led to different factions within the party to break out in a public fight.
