Court slaps 10-year imprisonment on youth for raping minor

Nagpur: District and Additional Sessions judge VG Raghuvanshi sentenced one Manoj Sukhre (20) to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs2,000on Friday for raping a four-year-old, with whom he also had forced unnatural sex. The court also ordered the convict to undergo an additional 60 days of imprisonment in case he defaults in paying the fine amount.

Sukhre had lured the survivor with some snacks and taken her to a desolate cowshed where he repeatedly forced himself upon her on October 23 in 2017. He also had forced unnatural sex with her. Sukhre was arrested by Mouda police station following a complaint lodged by the mother of the survivor.


Police had invoked sections 376 (2) (1) for rape and 377 for unnatural sex of Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Sukhre. He was also booked under relevant sections under Protection of children from sexual offences POCSO) Act 2012.


The charge sheet in the case was filed by Sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Ishwar Katkade. The prosecution was represented by Additional Public Prosecutor Varsha Gawli.
