GURUGRAM: Two thieves broke into a house in Sector 5 on Wednesday morning, spent around an hour to locate the valuables, packed it in a suitcase and fled.
Ashutosh Kumar, who works as a project engineer at a private company, has been residing in the house (C462) since June 2018. He found his house ransacked when he returned from office on Wednesday evening. “I have been staying in this house on rent as there’s some construction work going on at my own house. I had left for work at 10.30am on Wednesday and when I returned in the evening, I found my house rummaged. The thieves entered the house after cutting the window grille,” Ashutosh told police in the complaint.
This society in Sector 5 has six entry and exit gates and according to the RWA president there are CCTV cameras installed near three gates. The two thieves were captured in one of the cameras that shows one of the accused lugging a suitcase with one hand and carrying a blanket on the other hand while the other accused is seen carrying an LCD TV on his head without a grain of fear on their faces.
According to the police, the CCTV footage shows then men walking out of the gate around 11.52am proving that they broke into the house just after Kumar left for work. An FIR has been registered under section 380 (theft) and 454 (house trespass) of the IPC at Sector 5 police station.
“Items worth Rs 2.5 lakh have been stolen from the house, including a 40 inch LCD TV. We have collected the fingerprints from the crime spot and are trying to identify the accused,” an investigating officer at Sector 5 police station said.
Dinesh Vashishta, RWA president of Sector 5, said, “There are constructions going on here so the thieves must have entered the society posing as labourers. We already have three CCTV cameras installed and are planning to install three more.
