'We love you, we miss you': Mother of missing 12-year-old pleads for him to come home

A mother has broken down while making an emotional plea for her missing 12-year-old son to return home safely.

Jamie Clavant was last seen at the Warrandyte skatepark, in Melbourne's north-east, on Monday night.

His mother, Kerrie Clavant, said she went to the skatepark on Yarra Street to tell him it was time to come home about 9.30pm, but he had refused to leave straight away.

She expected Jamie, who sometimes struggles emotionally, to make his way home, less than a kilometre away, shortly afterwards but said he hadn’t been seen since.

“We love you, we miss you, we just want you home mate,” Ms Clavant said.

She described her son as active and outgoing before dissolving into tears.

His father, Shane Clavant, who is separated from Ms Clavant, told Jamie he wasn’t in trouble.

“If you see this, just go into a shop, go into anywhere and say you’re the little boy missing,” he said.

“Don’t be scared. Not one wants to tell you off. No one wants to hurt you. Just let us know you’re safe.”

Ms Clavant said Jamie, who is one of eight siblings, had taken off before but had never gone far and had always phoned her to let her know where he was.

She said it was out-of-character for him not to be in contact for this long. He left without his mobile phone and belongings.

Warrandyte Sergeant Stewart Henderson said police had had great support from the public, including sending in many unconfirmed sightings.

“We are quite concerned seeing the age of this young man and the length of time he’s been away,” he said.

“He hasn’t been away from home for this length of time before. We just want him to come home.”

The Warrandyte community has rallied together in the search for Jamie, putting up flyers and sharing his photo on social media.

Sergeant Henderson urged people to contact police with leads they are posting to social media.

Approximately 158cm tall with sandy blond hair and a thin build, Jamie was last seen wearing grey and blue striped shorts, a grey singlet and a grey baseball cap. He was travelling on a silver scooter.

Jamie regularly uses public transport and spends time in the Warrandyte area. He is known to visit Eastland shopping centre and eastern suburbs skate parks.

Anyone with information about Jamie is requested to contact Warrandyte Police Station on (03) 9844 3231 or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
