KOLKATA/LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, who reached Kolkata on Friday to take part in mega opposition rally organised by West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on Saturday, said except for SP-BSP alliance he will not talk about his political strategy anymore as it will not be in the interest of the Opposition’s plans to defeat the BJP in Lok Sabha elections.

He said the nation is waiting for a new prime minister and a message of change will only get additional boost from Mamata Banerjee’s TMC rally. Asked if he was ready to shake hands with the Congress, Akhilesh said the Trinamool Congress has organised a big event and the stage has room for all.

Praising Banerjee for inviting “all leaders” for the rally, Yadav said she is giving a strong message by doing so to the entire country. “The message that will go from Bengal and from Didi (Banerjee) will be the message for change,” he said.Several opposition leaders are scheduled to attend the rally, which is being touted as TMC’s attempt to galvanise a federal front against the BJP and as a show of strength before the upcoming general elections.

SP has announced an alliance with Bahujan Samaj Party for the general elections to defeat BJP in Uttar Pradesh, which sends 80 Lok Sabha members. (with inputs from Agencies)
