Bagh printer Abdul Kadar Khatri bags UNESCO award

Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal, Bagh printer Abdul Kadar Khatri received UNESCO and World Craft Council award for Excellence for Handicrafts for year 2018. This honour was given to Khatri for the best workmanship of the Bagh prints with traditional colors on a silk dupatta in a traditional way. International craft experts have selected each craft by ensuring the highest level of craft excellence.

The World Craft Council and the UNESCO award of Excellence for Handicrafts year 2018 was organized by the Qatar.Even before this Khatri was awarded the National Award by the Government of India in 2005, the State Level Award by the M.P. in the year 1990 and the Art Fund Award in 2015. Abdul Kadar is engaged in new experiments every day in his dyeing printing workshop in small town of Dhar district.

Gave new look to Bagh print

Abdul Kadar Khatri has given a new look to the Bagh print. Abdul Kadar Khatri and his son Arif Khatri and Mohammad Khatri have brought laurels to the name of Madhya Pradesh and the country at the international level by directly displaying the Bagh print art in countries like Germany, Oman, Australia, South Africa, Malaysia and Thailand. Khatri prepared an action plan on this large scale with the objective of reaching this traditional handicraft of India to the people.

The design used to prepare the sculpted silk scarf is surprisingly beautiful and attractive. An attractive design has been created from each block in this scarf. To make this scarf even more beautiful, this scarf has been prepared while incorporating modernity in many traditional designs including Lehriya design and coconut net.

In this scarf, natural colors were worked with complete precision, in which black colour was made of iron and red colour of alum and the colours of the rope and the root are painted with root.
