New routes to be transferred from sister airline SilkAir

Scoot, the low-cost arm of Singapore Airlines Group, will soon strengthen its presence in the country as part of expansion plans, with the commencement of flights from Singapore to Thiruvananthapuram, Coimbatore and Visakhapatnam.

The new routes will be transferred from sister airline, SilkAir. Scoot will be the only airline operating direct non-stop flights from Thiruvananthapuram and Visakhapatnam to Singapore, according to the airline.

The flights from the Thiruvananthapuram international airport to Singapore will commence on May 7 and from Coimbatore and Visakhapatnam from October 27. Scoot already operates direct flights from Amritsar, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Lucknow, and Tiruchirappalli.

From May 7, flight TR 531 from Thiruvananthapuram will take off at 10.40 p.m. on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday to reach Singapore at 5.35 a.m. local time. In the return direction, flight TR 530 will leave Singapore at 8.05 p.m. local time on all five days to reach Thiruvananthapuram at 9.45 p.m.

Airline sources said Scoot will also operate from Thiruvananthapuram international airport to Singapore and back using A-320, at present used by Silk Air. Singapore Airlines will take over the flight operations to Hyderabad and Kochi later. Silk Air will be wound up by 2020-21.

To commemorate the new routes, Scoot has introduced a major limited-time sale on flights from all its points, including Thiruvananthapuram till January 28 on www.FlyScoot.com website. One-way promotional fares (inclusive of tax) begin from ₹4,500 for Economy FLY, for trips to 27 exciting cities in Australia, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines and Vietnam via Singapore.

Scoot took to the skies in June 2012 and merged with Tigerair Singapore in July 2017, retaining the Scoot brand. Scoot operates a fleet of 18 state-of-the-art, wide-bodied Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 29 young and modern Airbus A320 family aircraft, with two more Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 37 Airbus A320 Neo aircraft on order. Scoot’s network encompasses 66 destinations across 18 countries.
