Indore: Doctors of Maharaja Yeshwantrao Hospital gave a new lease of life to a 60-year-old woman by removing a cork-shaped wooden object from her stomach. Doctors had to perform an emergency surgery on the woman to remove the wooden object at 2 am on Tuesday night. The patient is recovering and will be discharged from the hospital in a couple of days.
According to surgeon Dr Soumya Agrawal, the surgery was conducted under the supervision of Dr RK Mathur and the surgery was conducted for three hours. The 60-year-old patient Mem Shah was admitted to the hospital about 10-days ago with the problem of severe stomach ache and vomiting.
“During diagnoses, it was found that a cork shaped wooden object was stuck in her intestine. The object was removed successfully but it was not possible to ascertain the reason as to how the object had entered her system as neither she nor her family members were speaking anything about it,” Dr Agrawal said.
The doctors have also sent the object for testing in laboratory to know its kind. Dr Manish Kaushal, Dr Arvind Shukla, Dr Varsha Dhakad, Dr Sudhanshu Hedau, Dr Amit Kushwah, Dr Neha Gupta, Dr Soumya Agrawal, Dr Virendra Pachole, Dr Pawan More and Dr Harshita Kakoriya performed the surgery.
