Ujjain: City police, on Thursday, claimed to have busted a gang of thieves which targeted abandoned house and temples.
Two minors are among the eight alleged accused that have been arrested. Police claimed these accused are habitual criminals and fond of smoking expensive cigarettes, wine and partying. Police claimed some days ago they committed crime in Rudraveer Hanuman temple and stole cash and other valuable items from the temple. They also allegedly committed thefts in Nankheda, Madhav Nagar, Neelgana and other areas of the city.
On being tipped off the police team arrested some boys from Ekata Nagar. During the interrogation they admitted to the crime, the police also claimed to have recovered stolen goods from them. Those held include: Arvind alias Kala (18), Karan alias Kanha (19), Ronak Bairava (15), Govind alias Gobi (15), Golu alias Mahendra (18), Vijay Rajput (21), Rahul alias Gandhi (18) and Santosh Chouhan (20). According to police Rs 16000 in cash, brass and silver idols of deities, copper pitchers, silver coins and other things were recovered from the accused.
