2 arrested with 8.5 kg charas in Doraha

LUDHIANA: Khanna police on Thursday arrested two drug peddlers with 8.5 kg of charas.
The accused were identified as Nasrudin, 26, and Saban Kumar, 23, both of Shivrajpur in West Chaparan of Bihar.
Khanna SSP Dhruv Dahiya said as part of a special campaign against drug trafficking, police had set up nakabandi on GT Road in Doraha to inspect suspected vehicles and persons.
Police officials said during checking, police party saw two pedestrians coming from the bus stand Doraha side. They added that after seeing cops, they started walking towards service-lane Doraha, raising suspicion of cops.
On frisking, 5.5 kg charas was seized from Nasrudin’s bag and 3 kg charas was found from Saban Kumar’s bag.
The SSP said a case under Sections 20, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused at Doraha police station.
He said the accused are being questioned and there is a possibility of major disclosures.
Cops said during preliminary questioning the accused divulged that they had brought consignment from their native state and were to sell the same in Ludhiana. They added that police are scanning records to check whether the accused have previous cases against them in Khanna.
