Police arrest six Maoists from Paliganj

PATNA: The Patna police on Friday arrested six Maoists from Mugila Bigha village under the Khiri Mor police station area at Paliganj in Patna district. The arrested Maoists were identified as Siyaram Singh alias Pujariji, Ganesh Yadav, Munna Yadav, Bimal Sao, Ramnath Yadav and Rakesh Kumar.
City SP (west) Ravindra Kumar said acting on a tip-off, police raided the hideout of the Maoists at Khiri Mor and arrested them. “The Maoists had gathered at Khiri mor to execute a crime,” the SP said, adding while Siyaram is a resident of Arwal, the other five arrested Maoists hail from Patna district.
Police personnel from Paliganj, Dulhinbazaar and Khiri mor, who were led by ASP Anil Kumar Singh, conducted the operation on the direction of Patna SSP Garima Malik.
According to police, the arrested Maoists have been booked under various sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC), including Section 427 (mischief) and Section 436 (mischief by fire). They had earlier been jailed under Section 384 (extortion) and Section 386 (extortion by putting a person in fear of death).
“On January 6, the Maoists had set a JCB machine on fire at a construction site under Khiri Mor police station area. A complaint was registered at the police station,” said Patna ASP Singh, adding the arrested Maoists have confessed to their involvement in the crime.
