A groom had to stump up $4,000 to make it to his own wedding after Jetstar bumped him off a flight and left him stranded.
Ricky Proudfoot planned to fly from his home in Cairns to Brisbane, then take an international flight to Britain in time for the ceremony.
He was also supposed to serve as best man in a double wedding with his childhood friend, before walking down the aisle himself.

However, when he arrived at check in 20 minutes in advance he was told the flight was overbooked and the next one wasn't for 24 hours, he told the ABC.
Mr Proudfoot anxiously tried every other airline and waited to see if there was a cancellation, but to no avail.
Jetstar eventually, late that night, put him on a flight to Melbourne in the hope he could get a plane to Heathrow Airport from there.
The airline promised him dinner and a hotel for the night, but when he arrived in Melbourne all they gave him was $6 to buy food.
Mr Proudfoot made it to the weddings, but found his return flight was cancelled because he missed the original flight from Brisbane to London.

Rather than take a different flight to his bride Clare Applegarth to their honeymoon in Tasmania, he paid $4,000 for a new ticket.
When he got back to Cairns he tried to get compensation from Jetstar, but was only given a $200 travel voucher valid for six months with 'zero room for negotiation'.
'They made it sound completely normal. All I got were non-committal, broad statements from Jetstar, like 'this is the risk you take when you fly with us',' he said.
Jetstar said the flight wasn't overbooked, but the service was changed to a smaller aircraft that not all passengers could fit on.
'We understand delays can be very frustrating and sincerely apologise to Mr Proudfoot for the inconvenience the change of flight caused for his travel plans and the miscommunication about the reason for his disruption,' it said.
