Police arrested a man, in his twenties, for allegedly circulating obscene pictures of his female friend on social media after their break-up. The brother of the victim filed a complaint on Wednesday in which he alleged that the man was blackmailing his family saying that he will not let the victim marry anybody else.
The accused, a resident of Sector 20, works at a private company in Noida. He was arrested on Thursday morning from his residence after he was accused of allegedly blackmailing the victim and her family who lives in Noida.
Brother files plaint
The matter came to light on Wednesday evening when the brother of the victim filed a written complaint against the accused, “He knew my sister for quite some time. The ordeal began after she broke-up with him. He kept persuading her to patch up with him. When she refused, he threatened her of dire consequences. Later, he started blackmailing her over some pictures that he had clicked in the past. My family informed his family about the matter and blocked him from calling my sister,” said the victim’s brother.
Later, the accused allegedly started sending her pictures to her father and brother, “When my sister stopped talking to him, he started sending her pictures to our phones. He even threatened us that he won’t let her marry anyone. I seek strict action against him,” the victim’s brother wrote in the complaint.
According to Station House Officer at Sector 20 Manoj Pant, the man was arrested after a primary investigation revealed that the allegations against him were true.
“Based on the complaint, we had booked him under Sections 354, 507, 504 and 66 of the Information Technology Act of the IPC,” Mr. Pant said. The accused was sent to jail.
