Film producer duped of Rs 11 lakh
tnn | Jan 19, 2019, 04:00 ISTRajkot: A film producer was duped of Rs 10.75 lakh on Tagore Road in Rajkot. Though the crime was committed on January 1 and 2, the complaint was lodged on Thursday night.
According to police, the complainant, identified as Rajesh Ruparelia (45), a resident of Om Apartment near Bhaktinagar Circle in Rajkot, alleged that one Ashish Patel had stolen the signed cheques from his office and encashed them.
Ruparelia alleged that Patel, who is the friend of his cousin Hitesh, came to his office in his absence and stole the cheques on January 1 and encashed them on January 2 before fleeing to Goa.
“One of Ruparelia’s staffers Nirbhay Dave was present in the office when Patel arrived. Patel asked him to get him lunch and while Dave was away, he stole two cheques,” said an official from Rajkot A-Division police station.
