Surgery for Jones as Carlton injury curse continues
Carlton’s off-season woes have continued with defender Liam Jones sent for surgery on Wednesday after breaking his hand during training on Monday.
The Blues described the injury as a minor fracture to his left hand and said there would be little disruption to his pre-season.
It was the latest in a series of training mishaps for the Blues.
Carlton expect injured high-flyer Mitch McGovern to rejoin the group before the end of the month as he recovers from a non-displaced fracture in his back suffered at training before Christmas.
Jarrod Pickett will remain in a brace for the next month after surgery to repair his patella tendon. He was injured late last year when he landed awkwardly after a marking contest with Blues’ co-captain Patrick Cripps.
Co-captain Sam Docherty is out for the season after injuring his knee in yet another training setback in December.
