Julia Roberts is walking away from Homecoming.

Despite earning a Golden Globe nomination for her leading role as Heidi Bergman in the Amazon drama, The Hollywood Reporter reports that the actress will not return for the show's second season, though she will remain involved behind the scenes in an executive producer role. Instead of continuing to follow Heidi, a case worker who helps formerly deployed soldiers readjust to civilian life, the new season will focus on Colin Belfast (Bobby Cannavale) and Audrey Temple (Hong Chau).

Homecoming's first season was based, in part, on the first six episodes of the fictional Gimlet Media podcast of the same name from Micah Bloomberg and Eli Horowitz, which starred Catherine Keener in the role of Heidi. However, showrunner Sam Esmail has previously indicated to the publication that he intends to deviate even further from the original storyline of the second season, telling THR, "We're working on a second season, but we have a very different trajectory for our show."

Homecoming marked the first time Roberts ever starred in a television series. Previously, she'd done work on small screen films like The Normal Heart and with guest roles in episodic shows like Friends, Murphy Brown and Law & Order. The experience of working on a series, she told TV Guide, was "a great mental challenge every day."
