PATNA: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday said the state government would soon recruit 4,000 junior engineers in its different departments while another 20,000 junior engineers would be engaged in survey works in next few days.

Addressing a public meeting after inaugurating new building of the government polytechnic at Ramnakabad in Munger district’s Haveli Kharagpur block, he further said that the government had already sent a proposal to the Bihar technical service commission for recruitment of 4,000 junior engineers.

The pass-outs from polytechnic institutions are generally appointed as junior engineers or overseers in the state government’s works departments.

The chief minister also said the people acquiring technical knowledge from engineering, polytechnic and industrial training institutes (ITI) would now get enough opportunities of employment in Bihar because the state government has taken up several development schemes under different components of the ‘Saat Nischay’ (seven resolves) programme.

Nitish also announced that a new 9 kilometre long road would be constructed at a cost of Rs 30 crore from Gangata Mor to Bhimbandh in Munger district to provide better road connectivity to the Bhimbandh wildlife sanctuary.

He said the state government intended to develop eco-tourism in the Bhimbandh area and this road would provide better accessibility to tourists desiring to visit Bhimbandh sanctuary.

"The proposed 9-km road will be build using cold-mix technology, because its entire length will cross through the forest area and the forest department has given permission to build the road only through cold-mix technology. This technology is allowed in forest region because it doesn’t create smoke," the road construction department’s principal secretary Amrit Lal Meena told TOI on Wednesday. He said, this road would connect with the Bariyarpur-Kharagpur-Jamui National Highways -333 at Gangata Mor.

Nitish Kumar also inaugurated the new building of Tetiyabambar block-cum-circle office and a newly-constructed road over bridge (RoB) at Bariyarpur through remote control from the same venue.

Nitish Kumar said with the inauguration of the new building for the block-cum-circle office, people of the area would get several facilities at the block office.

The chief minister also announced that the dilapidated buildings of all those block-cum-circle offices, which were constructed in between 1950-60, would be re-constructed to give a better look to the block headquarters.

Deputy chief minister Sushill Kumar Modi, water resources minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, science and technology minister Jai Kumar Singh, road constcution minister Nand Kishore Yadav and building construction minister Maheshwar Hazari also addressed the public meeting.
