With a nearly 14 per cent growth in the annual power consumption for fiscal 2017-18, Telangana has emerged as number one in power consumption growth as it shot up to 60,237 MU in 2017-18 as against 53,017 MU in 2016-17. Besides, the state also bagged the first place in per capita power consumption at 1,727 units in 2017-18, with over 11 per cent growth as compared to 1,551 units in 2016-17. The figures were announced by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA). The state registered the highest growth rate in two parameters to stand first in the country. Following Telangana’s lead, Uttar Pradesh registered a growth of 11.92 per cent and Andhra Pradesh at 7.43 per cent in power consumption.
