Now, smooth ride from IFFCO Chk to Sukhrali
Rohit E David | TNN | Jan 16, 2019, 07:01 ISTGurgaon: Commuters can now travel straight from IFFCO Chowk towards Sukhrali or Maharana Pratap Chowk. Earlier, traffic police had installed jersey barriers at IFFCO Chowk, forcing motorists to take a left turn there, then get on the unidirectional flyover and later take a left turn towards Sukhrali.
The move comes after NHAI asked traffic police if the jersey barriers could be lifted. With the opening of unidirectional flyover 3 (from the Jaipur side towards Gurgaon) on January 1, NHAI and Gurgaon traffic police had carried out a spate of changes at the junction. “When the flyover project was incomplete, a makeshift arrangement had been made by placing jersey barriers to ensure smooth traffic flow. Now, the project is complete and traffic is moving according to the original design,” said Himanshu Garg, DCP (traffic) Gurgaon.
While commuters welcomed the move, they sought more signage at the intersection. “This is a welcome move. But in the absence of sufficient signage, people going towards Delhi from MG Road are going straight towards Sukhrali and taking a U-turn from there, causing congestion,” said Mohit Nagpal, a commuter.
