MUMBAI: The BEST Workers Union on Wednesday agreed to call off their strike in the Bombay high court. This followed the Union agreeing to the BEST managements offer of a 10-point increment in salary for around 13,000 junior grade staff, including drivers and conductors and the court’s suggestion of appointing a mediator to work out a solution for its demand.
The contentious issues include the proposal to merge the BEST and BMC budgets as well as other measures to help the loss-making undertaking turn a corner. The mediator will have three months to look into the issues and bring about a conciliation.
