People from various walks of life pay last respects to the filmmaker

Filmmaker Lenin Rajendran, who passed away on Monday, was cremated with full State honours at the Shanthikavadam electric crematorium here on Wednesday. Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran, film personalities, friends and family members were present.

Earlier, people from various walks of life paid their last respects to the filmmaker as his body was kept on the University College campus, where he studied and at the Kalabhavan theatre, where he served as the Chairman of the Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC).

He passed away on Monday night at a private hospital in Chennai, following a liver-related illness. His body was brought to his home near Kowdiar on Tuesday evening. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, friends from the film field and fans made a beeline to his residence. In a career spanning over three decades, he made 15 acclaimed films and a number of documentaries.
