NEW DELHI: Mahendra Singh Dhoni led India to a series-equalling victory over Australia in the second one-day international in Adelaide. But apart from his valiant match-winning half-century, the former India captain was in the news for a wrong reason.
A footage on social media suggests that Dhoni didn't complete one of his singles during the chase and it went unnoticed by the umpires.
The incident took place in the 45th over of the Indian innings when Dhoni appeared to have not completed the run off the last delivery of spinner Nathan Lyon's over. The umpires didn't notice that and called the end of the over while the run was added to Dhoni and India's account.
Chasing a competitive 299 for victory, India banked on a collective batting effort from the top order, before a 82-run fourth wicket stand between captain Virat Kohli (104) and Dhoni (55 not out) ensured the team's win with four balls to spare.
The former captain showed glimpses of his trademark ability to pull off difficult run chases with a 54-ball 55.
Dhoni has now notched up half-centuries in contrasting style in two back-to-back matches.
The third and final ODI will be played on January 18 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
