A rescue operation in under way after two year-old boy fell into the borehole, which is more than 100 metres deep and just 25cm wide.

Over 100 firefighters and other emergency services personnel were deployed in Spain's Malaga province to help save the boy.

They are unable to confirm if the boy is alive.
