CARLIN LYNCH DIES AT 84

For decades he was one of the most respected figures in local high school athletics, the former longtime football coach and director of athletics at Dartmouth High School. Carlin Lynch died at home on Monday.

Tom McDermott of Westport, a Somerset High grad and former longtime baseball and football coach at Dartmouth, said: “We always hear people talk about some athletes and say how they always seem to make everyone around them better. That’s so true with Carlin Lynch, not only on the athletic field but in life.”

DURFEE GIRLS SWIM TO BIG 3 TITLE

Abby Long, Jaelin Jang and Mackenzie Reed all won a pair of events as Durfee earned an outright Big 3 girls’ swimming title, defeating Brockton 101-82 Tuesday.
