5 of family die as car falls into canal

BELAGAVI: Five members of a family died near Kadabi Shivapur village of Savadatti taluk after their car toppled into Ghataprabha right branch canal late Monday night after the driver lost control over the vehicle. The deceased are from Gokak and were heading to Savadatti for a funeral.
A state disaster response team, fire-fighters and swimmers commenced search operation at night and recovered the bodies of Paravva Pujeri, 45, Lagamavva Pujeri, 38, and Laxmi Pujeri, 35. Operation resumed on Tuesday. Police found the body of Fakiravva Guddekar, 29, near Dasanal, at 3pm. Search for the body of Hanumant Pujeri, 60, is on.
