\'Little Steven\' Van Zandt comes out for teacher strike

ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) Actor and E Street Band member Steven Van Zandt joined teachers demanding better wages in Los Angeles on Wednesday, and compared teachers to soldiers on the "front lines" of the "war on ignorance." "I'm calling on all our brothers and sisters in the music world, from all the genres; pop, rock and hip-hop and country and jazz come on out and march with the teachers, your local schools and I'm doing the same thing with our actors all of us in the TV and movie world come on out and march with the teachers from your local schools," Van Zandt said.

The teachers, who rejected the latest contract offer from the Los Angeles Unified School District on Friday, are demanding higher pay, smaller classes and more support staff.
