Man stabbed to death, three arrested

Nagpur: A 24-year-old man was stabbed to death by three miscreants on Tuesday night at Kharbi. The accused, identified as Vishal Gajbhiye, Shantu Shil and Sahil Raikwar, have been arrested by Nandanvan police.
The victim, Rahul Khubalkar, lived with his wife Nikita and 6-month-old son Gaurash at his in-law’s house. According to sources, on January 14, Rahul’s younger brother Amit was hit by a car driven by one Shubham Rajput in Kharbi. Vishal, who lives in the neighbourhood, intervened and asked Shubham to leave the spot. Amit was rushed to the hospital and Rahul helped with the bills.

The next day, Vishal allegedly demanded Rs50,000 from Shubham, which he claimed he had paid for Amit’s treatment. Shubham met Rahul’s another younger brother Rajesh at Kharbi T-point and informed him about this. Vishal too came to the spot with his two friends. “Rahul too came and told Shubham that the matter has been settled. Vishal got angry over this and punched Rahul. When I started taking him home, Vishal and friends, all carrying knives, stabbed Rahul,” said Rajesh.

An autorickshaw driver who happened to be around the spot rushed Rahul to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) where he was announced brought dead. On Wednesday, Rahul’s post mortem was conducted at GMCH. Nikita told TOI, “Because of his helpful nature Rahul is no more. How am I supposed to take care of my son now?”
