Chandigarh, January 16, 2019: A Child friendly City Initiative Capacity building workshop was conducted by the Centre for Social Work, Panjab University, Chandigarh and Don Bosco. Mr Mahavir Singh Member Secretary, SLSA was the chief guest at the program who opined that children need to be protected from every risk in the society.
Dr Monica Munjial Singh, Chairperson, Centre for Social Work, Panjab University, Chandigarh expressed that we need to have a multifaceted approach to address this issue.
Fr. Reji Tom Director, Don Bosco said the civil society needs to come forward to support such an initiative.
Dr Gaurav Gaur, Mr Vineet Raj Kapoor Mrs Manjeet Kaur, Mr Neeraj, Mr Puneet Sharma, Mr Nautiyal, Mr Pankaj, Ms. Kiranpreet Kaur Cheema, Ms Pooja Pande , Mr Vineet Marwaha, Ms Supreet Dhiman , Dr Arzoo Gupta, Dr Kiran Behal, Mr Narinder , Ms Pallavi Mukerji, Mr Vivek Atray, Ms Tabassum Khan and Dr Anuradha Jatana were the panelists for the session.
The moderator for the programme was Mr Neil Robert consultant Don Bosco and Tamanjit Kaur a Counsellor with Don Bosco apart from the Staff from Social Work and Don Bosco.
The suggestions rendered were building more safety nets for children, ensuring full enrolment and attendance in schools, cyber crime awareness and sensitisation about child abuse.
The workshop was attended by the students of the Social Work Department and persons from the civil society.
