Mumbai: Santacruz police arrested another bookie in the cricket betting syndicate on Monday night. The sixth arrested accused in the case, Nikunj Thakkar was arrested after his name cropped during the interogation of five cricket bookies arrested for placing bets on the Big Bash League T20 tournament held in Australia.
Thakkar’s role in the crime was that of a middle-level fish in the bookie circles. His name was found in the data procured from the laptop seized and in the Call Data Records (CDR) of the five arrested accused. Thakkar was arrested from his residence on Monday night.
Last week, Santacruz Police had busted a cricket betting syndicate and arrested four persons– Bipin Shah alias Bipin Indraprasth (48), Jitendra Jadhav (38), Narayan Rebari (24) and Devilal Jaat (40) and later arrested Ketan Tanna (32) for his alleged role.
