Bhopal: A 35-year-old woman who was returning after celebrating Makar Sankranti died while her husband and two children escaped with injuries after the motorbike they were travelling was hit by a speeding auto-rickshaw coming from wrong side in-front of Peoples medical college under Nishatpura police station on Monday night.
According to ASI Adesh Kumar Sharma, the deceased woman has been identified as 35-year-old Manju, wife of Golu Yadav, a resident of Vidisha district and was housewife whereas her husband works as a mason. On Monday, she along with her husband and their children: three year old son and two year old daughter came here in Goya Colony of Karond area where her parent’s house is located for Makar Sankranti celebration.
The incident took place when she along with her family was returning home in Vidisha on a bike. In the mid-way at around 11pm near Peoples medical college, their two-wheeler was hit head-on by an auto-rickshaw coming from the wrong side. In the mishap, the woman who was riding pillion died on the spot whereas her husband and both the children got injured. Her husband sustained injuries in his head and both legs whereas two year old girl got one of her legs fractured as bike fell on her.
Meanwhile after hitting the bike, the auto-rickshaw also overturned leaving the rickshaw driver injured. The injured were admitted in Peoples hospital. Body of the deceased was sent to Hamidia hospital’s mortuary for a post-mortem and a case under relevant sections of IPC has been registered against the errant driver.
