Both parties are ‘B’ teams of the BJP, says TDP-Telangana

The Telugu Desam Party Telangana State unit has said the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi’s efforts to forge an alliance with the YSR Congress Party headed by Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy exposed the former’s “double standards and opportunistic politics”.

TDP-TS president L. Ramana and polit bureau member Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy recalled how the TRS criticised Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy for opposing the formation of Telangana on the floor of Parliament.

‘Owes an explanation’

They wondered how TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao and working president K.T. Rama Rao could think of entering into an electoral alliance with Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s party.

“The TRS charged former Chief Minister late Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, Mr. Jagan and senior leader K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao as the biggest exploiters of Telangana. The party owes an explanation on how it has decided to align with the YSRC now,” Mr. Ramana said.

Anti-BJP vote

He alleged that the alliance between the TRS and the YSRCP came at the behest of the BJP leadership and Prime Minister Narendra Modi as part of efforts to split the “anti-BJP votes” in the name of the Federal Front.

“The TRS, the MIM and the YSR Congress are acting as ‘B’ teams of the Bharatiya Janata Party as is evident from the proposed alliance between the two,” Mr. Chandrasekhar Reddy said.
