Footy stars pose for a photo during a holiday to Lebanon – but can you spot what's unusual about it?

  • But there is something that seems somewhat out of place about the photo
  • The Lebanese town of Kfarsghab renamed a street sign as a sign of honour

A photo of Australian footy stars posing while on holiday last year has raised some eyebrows.

Parramatta Eels players Mitchell Moses, Jarryd Hayne, Michael Jennings, Nathan Brown and Tim Mannah appeared to be living it up in Greece and Lebanon during their getaway in September.

Along their travels, the group visited the small northern Lebanese town of Kfarsghab, however, the street sign hanging above their heads featured a distinctively Australian name.

'Parramatta Road,' the blue and white sign reads.

Kfarsghab renamed its two-kilometre main street in recognition of the 40,000 Lebanese immigrants who relocated from the area to western Sydney after World War II.

Many Lebanese migrants also fled to Canterbury and Parramatta after fleeing political turmoil in their home country. The Lebanese civil war broke out in 1975 and raged until 1990.

By 2008 an estimated 10,000 people in Parramatta could trace their ancestry to Kfarsgahb.

The Parramatta local government gifted the street sign to Kfarsghab in 2009, when a delegation from the Council visited the village.
