Two end life by jumping into canal

Palanpur: Two teenagers ended life by jumping into the Narmada main canal in Devpura village of Vav taluka in Banaskantha on Tuesday. The deceased were identified as Pareshji Thakor (18) and Vasanta Thakor (17).

While Praeshji is resident of Bhabhar in Banaskantha, Vasanta lived in Jantha village of Saraswati taluka in Patan district. Vav police said that the duo had jumped into the main Narmada canal near Devpara village on Tuesday noon.


Their bodies were fished out by divers around 7pm in the evening, police said, adding that they both had tied their hands together with a ‘dupatta’.


Police also found their mobile phones and other belongings including cash near the canal. The bodies will be handed over to the respective families after postmortem, officials of Vav police said.
