A 17-year-old boy has been apprehended for allegedly stabbing his 42-year-old father to death inside their house in East Delhi's New Ashok Nagar area on Sunday night after the father refused to give him Rs 150.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Hazari Mukhiya (42), who used to work as a labourer in a factory in Noida.

"We received a call from Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital at around 11:30 pm informing that a minor has stabbed his father. A police team rushed to the hospital and found that Mukhiya was declared dead," said DCP (East) Pankaj Singh.

During the inquiry, it came to light that Mukhiya's son had asked him to give Rs 150-200, which he refused.

"The boy asked for money and the father reprimanded him for not doing anything. The father asked him to leave him alone. But the son got angry and picked up the kitchen knife lying nearby. He stabbed his father in the chest. The victim's wife, who was witness to the incident, rushed him to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital where he was declared dead," said Singh.

The police said that the accused didn't go to the hospital but was wandering around the house from where he was apprehended late at night. "He is a class VIII dropout and is unemployed. He is the only son and his elder sisters are married," said a senior police officer. Mukhiya was the sole breadwinner of the family, police said.
