MUMBAI: A 32-year-old man was arrested late on Monday after he touched a teenaged girl inappropriately while she was boarding a train at Dadar station. The 16-year-old girl was accompanied by her friend and was headed home. The accused, Omhari Singh, has been booked under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Police said the incident occurred around 9pm on platform no. 1 of Dadar (Central Railway). The girl and her male friend got into a down train to travel to Mulund. While getting into the general compartment, the girl felt someone touch her inappropriately from behind. But the molester quickly got into the coach before she could catch hold of him. The girl complained to her male friend.

"At Kurla station, the girl spotted the accused (Singh) and informed her friend. They tried to get him to alight the coach with them at Kurla and then at Ghatkopar stations, but failed. Eventually, they managed to get Singh off the train at Mulund station and brought him to Kurla GRP," said a police official. Late at night, the cops brought Singh to Dadar GRP where charges were pressed against him. Singh was produced before a railway court on Tuesday and sent to police custody.
