Tiatr Personality JP Pereira

Housewife

The new tiatr from Comedian Dominic with Luis Bachchan is an entertainer.  Male dominance in a household is put right and it is done well.

Mr Borges is a widower and businessman who runs his home like a dictator. His sons Abel and Kane are under his control. Abel’s wife Cynthia is like a maid, looking after the entire home. Even their young daughter Jane is not spared by the grandfather. Enter Aliya, the girl who is in love with the younger son Kane. The two are married.

The strict father who feels he can control the entire family with his rough and sexist behaviour is taught a lesson in decency. The sons are also shown how they should treat their spouses.

Watch this showdown between males and females on stage!

This is a show packed with some tough moments and plenty of fun. There are good dialogues, great acting and a lot of humour as the characters do their best to entertain. Eleuterio is the angry father who feels he has everything under control. A fine negative act, especially during the opening scene and later when accusing an innocent man. Priscilla is Cynthia the suffering housewife and Sonali is the tough Aliya.  Contrasting roles performed very well. Michael and Alias are the two sons – as gentle as lambs with the father but wolves with the wives. Laneesha as the precocious Jane does well in every act. It is good to see Seriton, after many years, playing the role of the friend. Ron’s humorous act as the police officer who wants his photo on the newspaper is superb. The comedy has the talented Cassy, Avila, Dominic and Luis B providing plenty of good humour. The four of them are quite awesome.

Piety (trumpet) leads the fine band that consists of Asheruf (trumpet), Colin (saxophone), Alfredo (bass), Wilson (drums) and Benny (keyboard). The opening song by Alias and Jelushka is good. There are other songs, many serious and some quite funny by Alias, Dominic, Rons, Luis, Leslie, Xavier, Priscilla and others. Solos by Avila on the environment and another by Jelushka are impressive. Duets by Priscilla-Xavier and Avila-Jelushka, and a group song on rights of women standout. Don’t miss this show. It is entertaining while setting right the behaviour of some men.

The fine script with some great dialogues is enacted very well by a cast that has Priscilla, Sonali, Eleuterio, Michael, Alias, Rons, Seriton and Laneesha a cute kid who steals the show. Comic acts by Dominic, Luisbachan, Avilla and the talented Cassy keep the audience in splits.

Thank You God

Written and directed by Pal Soares, ‘Thank You God’ is a tiatr that impresses due to its narrative which has many surprises in store for the audience.

The story revolves round a widowed mother and her three children.  Kim, the daughter in the family is getting ready for her nuptials. The older siblings Kenneth and Kevin do not seem very happy with Kim’s choice of a husband. The groom cannot speak, although he holds a good post in London. The mother is supportive and rebukes the sons who have not done anything for their kid sister. Kenneth is married and is always demanding a share of the property, and Kevin while being a good motor mechanic drinks heavily and is involved in many nefarious activities.  He also has a secret to hide. Their lives in society recount a tale with some surprises and a fine climax. The tiatr depicts the importance of love and forgiveness and gratitude to the Lord for all the goodness received.

The script is well written with many good messages. The surprises make for good viewing, especially during the pre-interval and post-interval acts. Sheron Dias plays the widowed mother with great style and conviction. She uses the right emotions and body language. Shenaya acts well as Laxmi, a role cut out for this young actress. Laxmi is one of the surprises in this tale.   Sonia does justice to her role of the youngest sibling. The young Ancilia is the little daughter Kimberly. Godwin is Kevin and Cyril is Kenneth. Pal Soares plays the frustrated father. Batista makes a good priest and Jesus with Venencia, Pitush and Lino provide some humour. Cruz and his band back the various songs. The opening song is rendered by Melissa while the tiatr has other songs by Shenaya, Melissa, Pal, Cajetan De Sanvordem, Olga, Rodson, Godwin and others.
Watch this show. A good story, well enacted!
