Mumbai: Vibgyor High School, Malad defeated Jamnabai Narsee Juhu 5-0 to sail into the semi-finals defeating in the by’s under-14 Div IV, MSSA inter-school football tournament at the Goan grounds on Tuesday. Rishi Mantri and Dhruv Singhania spearheaded Vibgyor scoring two goals each to make into the last four of the championship. Arnesh Singh was the other contributor for the winners. In another Dr Antonio de Silva got the better of Yashodham High School & Junior College 4-0. Suhail Khwaja scored a brace while Joel Plarila and Akshat Shetye chipped in a goal each. Children Welfare Centre overpowered Bombay Scottish team 3-1 to make the last four.

Chavan triumphs
Omeshwari Chavan of Midtown Mavericks defeated Fioni Shah of Northern Knights 6-4 to win the won the gold in the women’s singles, in the Mumbai Games Tennis event held at the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association, Cooperage. In the semi-finals, Omeshwari looked good touch as she thrashed Raakkhi Pohuja of Central Challengers 6-2 to storm into the finals.

Shantibhai off to good start
A fine 70 by wicket-keeper and opener Nisar Mulani and determined rearguard action from number seven Kunal Vatari (64 not out) enabled Shantibhai Memorial post a moderate 243 in 76 overs on the first day against New Era CC in the finals of the Santosh Kumar Ghosh Trophy (U-16) Cricket Tournament under the aegis of MCA. New Era scored 33 for no loss in seven overs to end the day’s play.
