KANPUR: Two days after BSP and SP announced their alliance for the general elections, Pragtisheel Samajwadi Party-Lohia (PSPL) chief Shivpal Yadav said on Monday "it's not possible for them alone to defeat BJP."

"All secular parties should unite to oust BJP from power. Along with Bahujan Mukti Party, nearly 45 like-minded secular parties are with PSPL. We will fight against BJP and oust it from power," he told reporters on Monday.

On whether PSPL is planning to ally with Congress, Shivpal said, "We are in talks with Congress. We will let you know once things are finalised." Reacting to SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav's recent remark that Shivpal would be thrashed if he visited Poorvanchal as people there were angry with him for his remarks against Akhilesh Yadav, the PSPL chief said, "He (Ram Gopal) is my elder brother... he can thrash me anywhere and anytime."
