Four under-14 boys held for raping minor girl in Hazira

Surat: Police detained four teenagers, all under 14 years, for the sexual assault on a three-year-old girl who was found bleeding in the bushes in Hazira on Thursday last. They had raped the minor, one accused twice, inflicting serious injuries in her private parts, consequent upon which she underwent surgery.
Sunil, 13, Samir, 15, Pradeep, 11, and Rakesh, 10, (all names changed), who were detained on Monday, are children of contract labourers working in local industries and natives of Bihar. They were taken to New Civil Hospital (NCH) for medical examination by police, who will be shortly producing them in court.

Police investigation found that the girl was playing outside her house when the accused playing cricket nearby lured her at 3pm by promising to give chocolates. They took the girl 700 metres away and raped her in the bushes where they abandoned her and left for their respective homes. Sunil had raped the minor girl twice, police said.

Sunil went to the spot at around 5.30pm with his younger brother to answer nature’s call when he heard the cries of the minor. He picked her from the bushes and handed over to a 19-year-old youth, claiming that they had found her on road. The youth brought the girl to her parents who rushed her to hospital where the doctors confirmed that she had been sexually assaulted.

“It is an unfortunate incident. Investigation revealed that the boys’ inclination towards physical (sexual) activity developed after watching porn videos. They used to watch porn videos on the phone of a relative,” city police commissioner Satish Sharma told TOI.

Parents of all the accused work as labourers and the boys don’t go to school. They move along with their parents to different locations as per the latter’s job requirement every few months.
