Noida to hire private agency for managing Sector 38 parking

NOIDA: The Noida Authority has issued an expression of interest (EoI) to hire a private firm for designing, installing and operating a smart parking system at the multi-level car parking in Sector 38A near Botanical Garden metro station.
Rajeev Tyagi, general manager, Noida Authority, said the parking lot is located in a prime location in Noida. “We are planning to open it for public in April. The smart parking system will ensure optimum use of the parking facility. The system will inform people about the parked area and vacant spaces. We have invited applicants from firms dealing in such projects to submit their expression of interest,” he added. The smart parking system will help commuters who presently park their vehicles around the metro station and Sector 18 commercial areas. The eight-storey facility with double basement can accommodate approximately 7, 000 vehicles or 4,500 cars and 3,500 two-wheelers at a time.
These applications will be evaluated to select a firm for project implementation. The Authority has also called for a meeting of the bidders on January 23 to present their concept plan. The application process will be offline while the notifications and detailed terms will also be published on the Noida Authority’s website.S K Jain, president of Sector 18 Market Association said, the new parking facility will surely help people visiting Botanical Garden Metro Station, GIP Mall, Sector 18 market and Atta market.
“The Authority should charge reasonable fare so that more people can use the facility. During festivals and celebrations, the footfall increases in malls and markets. The Authority should also deploy some enforcement officials to guide people in the first few months,” he added.
Presently, Noida offers surface parking at 70 places that accommodate 21,000 cars in different locations. The Authority is also planning to start surface parking in sectors 80, 83, Phase 2 and Hosiery Complex in future.
