Tweet prompts Mysuru railway officials to help distressed college student

MYSURU: The South Western Railway (SWR) extended a helping hand to a college student who needed muscle relaxant drugs and sanitary pads, during her journey from Yesvantpur to Bellari on Monday.
The Mysuru division of the SWR acted swiftly on a tweet posted by her friend and provided the medicine and sanitary pads to the student at the next station.
He tweeted at 11pm by tagging the South Western Railway's (SWR) Mysuru division and by 2am the authorities provided all help at Arasikere railway station in Hassan district.
It all started when Vishal Khanapure, a trainee engineer hailing from Kalaburugiwas, was alerted by one his friends from Bengaluru about immediate need of meftal spas tablets and sanitary pads.
"To our surprise at 11.06pm, an officer reached my friend and confirmed all the requirements, her PNR details and her mobile number. At 2am, when the train reached Arasikere railway station, the officials from the Mysuru division were ready with all the items she sought. We all were surprised by the quick response of the SWR authorities," said Khanapure.
Railway officers confirmed that the girl was extended all the support in the wee hours of Tuesday wee hours once the train reached the station.
"Such requests are often made to us through tweets or by calls at 138. We are always ready to help our passengers," explained an officer from the Mysuru division.
