Keeping in view the upcoming cleanliness survey 'Swachh Survekshan 2019', all four zones under SDMC organised various awareness programmes and sanitation drive at different places in order to enhance the involvement of citizens and make them aware about the importance and relevance of Swachh Survekshan 2019.

The sanitation workers in large numbers cleared the garbage and sent it for dumping and recycling. They also cleaned the localities.

Led by local councillors, the sanitation drive was organised at 85 places including Mehrauli, Green Park, Punjabi Bagh, Janakpuri, Nehru Place, Lajpat Nagar, Nizamuddin, Defence Colony, Kalkaji Mandir, Dwarka, Malviya Nagar, Greater Kailash-2 and Tagore Garden.

During the drive, the local councillors along with the residents picked up garbage from the parks, roads and bus-stops. The participants then created awareness about the source segregation of waste.

"The locals exhorted people disposing of wastes on streets to put the garbage into different dustbins. The Resident Welfare Association (RWA) members told that all residents in the colonies have been instructed to segregate the waste and workshops are also being arranged to make them aware about segregation and collection of garbage," said SDMC's spokesperson Radha Krishna.

The residents also said that they have been offering free services to clean the locality and to make people aware of the need for cleanliness. The authorities are now hoping for an improved rating for Delhi this time in the Swachh Survekshan 2019.
