NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Tuesday said that the West Bengal government’s fear that BJP’s ‘rath yatras’ might create law and order problems was not “unfounded” and added that the yatras could be allowed only after the party addressed the state administration’s concerns.
“Looking into the details of the proposed rath yatras and the order of the state government, we cannot say the apprehensions expressed by the state are unfounded. It is for the state government to maintain law and order in the state and the apprehensions expressed in the order will have to be addressed by the petitioner to the government in a reasonable manner,” the court said.
