Netflix will be hiking its prices again in 2019.

According to Variety, the streaming service will hike the cost of a new subscription immediately, while current subscribers will see their monthly cost increase in the coming three months as well. The prices will be adjusted, so that the basic plan will go from $7.99 to $8.99, while the standard plan (which includes two streams in Ultra HD) will jump from $10.99 to $12.99 a month and the premium plan (four streams in Ultra HD) will rise from $13.99 to $15.99.

It's not as significant a hike as the sudden jump that occurred in 2011 -- the DVD mail and streaming package was increased by 60%, causing many subscribers to jump ship over ire for the sudden change. The streaming service also raised prices, with far less backlash, in late 2017.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the company said, "We change pricing from time to time as we continue investing in great entertainment and improving the overall Netflix experience."

Indeed, Netflix has famously increased its spending to produce a bevy of new original content, including many new offerings for 2019, and recently forked over a whopping $100 million just to keep Friends available to stream for the rest of the year. Netflix has also enjoyed an uptick in prestige in recent years, thanks to shows like The Crown, documentaries like Ava Duvernay's 13th, and original film roll-outs like Mudbound and Alfonso Cuaron's Roma. This year will also see the return of several fan favorites, including Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 2, Stranger Things Season 3 and Black Mirror Season 5, to name a few.
