Bhopal: The state government is preparing to bring vote-on-account, instead of presenting complete budget for financial year 2019-20 this time. Arrangements for a four-day assembly session starting from February 18 for vote-on-account are being made. The vote-on-account would be put up in this session to meet the expenses of the government till formation of Central government after Lok Sabha elections.
The Central government too is going to bring an interim budget. The state government has also decided to bring vote-on-account till complete budget. A session of state assembly from February 18 to 21 has also been called. The session would mark all routine works including questions and call-attention motion.
Through vote-on-account, the money for three months expenses of the department, from April 1 to June 30, would be allocated. The budget allocation would be made equivalent to three months expenses in proportion to budget of 2019-20. The government had brought vote-on-account in 2014 because of Lok Sabha elections. The complete budget was presented after Lok Sabha elections.
In the vote-on-account, money to be allocated to some departments may be curtailed. Chief Minister Kamal Nath has asked officers of finance department to immediate stop the schemes, which are not benefiting the public. Following Nath’s directions, no fund would be allocated to such schemes through vote-on-account.
The vote-on-account would also feature fund allocation for the schemes according to central government’s budget.
