Bengaluru: The ruling coalition parties of JD(S) and Congress have hit back at the opposition BJP of neglecting the state which is facing a serious drought situation and having a “gala” time in Gurugram.

On Tuesday, former prime minister and JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda took to Twitter and attacked the BJP for sending its MLAs on a “vacation” to north India.

“As many as 156 taluks in the state are facing a severe drought. Under such circumstances, the BJP has sent its MLAs on a vacation and have fun in north India. The BJP is in false hopes and a dream world of toppling the government. They have shown no concern to the people of the state which is reeling under drought. The people will teach BJP an apt lesson for this injustice meted out to them,” said Gowda on twitter.

At the other end, former CM and Congress legislature party leader Siddaramaiah also charged the BJP and punned on prime minister Narendra Modi’s statement of the party having a “saf niyat” and ‘ sahi vikas’(clean image and right kind of development).

“BJP has a legacy of ‘Gandha Niyat,Resort Vikas’ (dirty image and welfare of resorts). Their ‘Operation Kamala’ is not new and they will indulge whenever they feel politically threatened. Recent miserable loss in 5 states is the result of their ongoing attempt in Karnataka which will fail,” he said.

Siddaramaiah went on to target Modi and said: “Mr. Saaf Niyat @narendramodi, is allowing your disgraceful @BJP4Karnataka leaders to destabilize govt a ‘Saaf Niyat’ towards democracy? Your PR slogans does not hide your actual ‘Niyat’ & your ‘Sahi Vikas’ should go beyond developing Resorts. First show your Niyat to people!!”

Karnataka pradesh Congress committee (KPCC) president Dinesh Gundu Rao also targetted the BJP central leadership and said the party will not stop at anything for power.

“Horse trading, corrupt practises, destabilising govts, misusing agencies like IT/ED etc, blackmailing this has become the political agenda of BJP under Modi & Shah. The worst form of power hungry politics on display,” he said on twitter.

Earlier in the day, Maharashtra BJP minister Ram Shinde said the resignation of the two independents is an indicator of the “operation lotus” likely to become a success.

“They must have thought that they should join BJP that received the mandate instead of those who formed unnatural alliance. I'm getting a feeling that Operation Lotus will be successful in the coming days,” said Shinde on social media.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka BJP countered the ruling coalition charges of trying to destablise the Karnataka government with party in-charge P Muralidhar Rao saying Congress needs to be blamed for the current political crisis in the state.

“Congress leadership has failed in Karnataka in providing good governance and also coherent government. Now they are trying to shift the blame on BJP. BJP is not ready to play the game, blame is entirely on Congress!” he said.

The BJP has blamed the Congress for trying to poach its MLAs and thus, voluntarily, all of them have been forced to stay in a hotel together.
